The St John of Kronstadt Academy is a new Orthodox classical school due to open in Queensland in 2024 subject to receiving accreditation through the Queensland Non-State Schools Accreditation Board.  The initial intake of students will be from Preparatory to Year 3, with an additional grade being added each year.

The Academy aims to provide our future students with an education steeped in the richness of the classical tradition and has developed a curriculum that is true to the objectives, principles and pedagogy of classical education as can be achieved within the Australian educational system. Our ultimate objective is to cultivate saints who love Christ and His church.

In preparation for our opening in 2024, the Board of the Academy is looking for primary school teachers to become part of this exciting endeavor. Three positions are available and the successful candidates will need the appropriate teaching qualifications in order to be registered as a teacher in Queensland.

So who are we looking for?

Firstly, you must be a committed and practicing Christian. If the teaching staff do not put Christ first and foremost in their own lives, if they do no have an active and real faith in Christ, then neither will our future students. Non-Orthodox teachers will be considered but will need to agree, abide by and uphold the beliefs and practices of the Russian Orthodox church.

Secondly, a deep love for classical education. We understand that very few people received a classical education growing up and that poses a challenge in finding teachers for a classical school. What is more important is that our teachers love and are committed to classical education, that they truly aspire in their own lives to the ideals of true Christian wisdom and virtue and for all things true, good and beautiful in God’s creation.

Thirdly, suitable candidates will need the ability to adapt, learn and grow in the classical tradition. The Academy will provide significant support, resources and continuing educational opportunities to help the right candidates to mature in the classical model.

If you have a real desire to be part of the renewal of classical education in Australia and are interested in a role with the Academy then please send an email with a copy of your CV and a covering letter to This email address is being protected from spambots.
